2012 Wimbledon Results: Serena Williams Advances To Semifinals

It's looking like one of those tournaments for Serena Williams. You know, the ones she usually wins?

Williams continued her inspired play by knocking out defending champion Petra Kvitova in straight sets, 6-3, 7-5, in the quarterfinals of Wimbledon to advance to her eighth Wimbledon semifinal.

It was the first time in 11 matches at Wimbledon that Kvitova has lost, with her last loss also coming at the hands of Williams in the 2010 semifinals. Williams went on to win that title, which was her fourth.

"She's been playing so well on grass," Williams said. "I had absolutely nothing to lose."

Williams is now two wins away from becoming the first woman over age 30 to win a Grand Slam title since Martina Navratilova won Wimbledon in 1990.
