2012 British Open Prize Money: Ernie Els Earns Over $1.4 Million, Tiger Woods Nearly $480K

It wasn't the greatest of final rounds for Tiger Woods, but it was more than enough to earn a top five finish. Woods finished tied with third at the British Open with Brant Snedeker, with each of them earning $479,992 for his efforts. Ernie Els managed $1.45 million by winning the 2012 Open. Adam Scott ended up pulling around $839,000 (although he has to be disappointed at not earning the overall prize). Luke Donald and Graeme McDowell picked up $314,617 each after finishing in a tie for fifth.

Golfers in the Los Angeles region performed fairly well at the British Open this year. Hunter Mahan finished in a tie for 19th and managed earnings of around $81,881. Rickie Fowler earned $48,672 after finishing in a tie for 31st. John Huh missed the cut and didn't earn anything for his efforts.
