Following a rest day on Tuesday, the riders of the 2012 Tour de France will get back on the trail towards the finish line. Stage 16 of the Tour will commence on Wednesday morning, taking the cyclists from Pau to Bagnéres-de-Luchon. It's a ride of 197 kilometers, which is the second-longest stage left at this point.
As for the overall standings, Bradley Wiggins continues to hold a solid lead over the field. He currently leads Christopher Froome, the rider currently in second place, by two minutes and five seconds. Vincenzo Nibali is the only other cyclist within three minutes of Wiggins, and he now trails by 2:23.
Stage 16, which is known for the high mountains and steep inclines and declines, will begin at 3:30 a.m. PST. That's 6:30 a.m. for you folks on the east coast. As they have throughout the entire Tour, NBC Sports Network will provide live television coverage.
