The Los Angeles Dodgers' Matt Kemp was named captain of the National League home run derby team on Tuesday.
The New York Yankees' Robinson Cano - the defending home run derby champion - will be the captain for the American League.
Kemp will be charged with personally inviting the members of the team he will lead against the American League in the second year of the new format where both leagues compete as teams against one another. The NL will be looking for a better showing than last year after losing to the AL, 76-19.
The Cardinals' Carlos Beltran, Rockies' Carlos Gonzalez, Brewers' Ryan Braun and Phillies' Hunter Pence are all possibly in the running for the NL team as they are all among the league leaders in home runs.
The Rangers' Josh Hamilton, White Sox's Adam Dunn, Blue Jays' Edwin Encarnacion and Yankee's Curtis Granderson currently are the top home run hitters in the AL.
Both teams will play for a charity of the captain's choosing, with the winner donating $150,000.
