Olympics Swimming Trails 2012: Michael Phelps Falls To Ryan Lochte

All eyes will be on Team USA swimmer Michael Phelps in London, but the gold medal winner will have to first prove himself at Olympic Trials this week in Omaha. In what was a thrilling men's 200m freestyle, Phelps raced against a tough field headlined by Ryan Lochte.

Phelps and Lochte were seemingly neck-and-neck the entire race, and it was Lochte who just barely pulled away in the closing meters. Lochte finished his 200 meters in one minute and 45.25 seconds; Phelps finished in one minute and 45.27 seconds.

In other swimming news, Brendan Hansen won the 100m breaststroke to clinch a spot on Team USA. It will be the third time he will represent the United States in the Olympics.

On the women's side of things, Dana Vollmer won the 100m butterfly to secure her spot in London. Allison Schmitt won the 400m freestyle.

The swimming trials will continue on Wednesday in Omaha.
