U.S. Open 2012, Leaderboard Update: Tiger Woods Rallies Back Into 3rd After Bogeying 5, 6, and 7

Tiger Woods started out the day on a roll at the 2012 U.S. Open Championship, taking sole possession of first place atop the leaderboard early in the afternoon after sinking a birdie on the par-3 No. 3 hole. That had pushed him to 2-under overall and 1-under for Friday and into the lead past Day 1 leader Michael Thompson, but that lead would be short-lived.

Woods would go on to bogey three straight holes - the 5th, 6th, and 7th, to drop out of the lead and into a tie for fourth place after nine holes. Many believed he may implode at that point, but after a birdie on 10, he sits at +1 for the day and E on the tournament, behind held at the beautiful Olympic Club in San Francisco. Now in sole possession of third, he trails leaders Beau Hossler - who at 17 years old is -1 through 12, Jim Furyk, at -1 through 2 rounds, and now sits in front of John Peterson, and Nicolas Colsaerts, Graeme McDowell, and Michael Thompson, who all finished the day +1 overall.
