UCLA Vs. Stony Brook, 2012 CWS: Game Preview

The No. 2 UCLA Bruins open the 2012 College World Series facing No. 25 Stony Brook on Friday at 2p.m. PDT on ESPN2. Karl Ravech, Kyle Peterson, and Jenn Brown will be on the call.

The Bruins have a nine-game winning streak heading into Game 1, and they will send Adam Plutko to the mound on Friday afternoon. The ace of the UCLA pitching staff is 11 -3 with a 2.56 ERA this season, and he allowed two runs in seven innings in a win over TCU in the Los Angeles Super Regional last Friday.

Stony Brook will send Tyler Johnson to the mound on Friday, a senior right-hander who went to nearby Crespi High School in Encino. Johnson is the all-time leader at Stony Brook with 36 wins.

The winner of Friday's game will advance to play the winner of Arizona vs. Florida State on Sunday. Game 1 will be available to watch online as well via WatchESPN.com.
