College World Series 2012: UCLA Hosts Creighton In Round 1 Of Regional Play

The UCLA Bruins find themselves in the NCAA postseason for the sixth time in seven years, hosting the Creighton Blue Jays in the opening round of the Los Angeles Regional Friday night at Steele Field.

The Bruins (42-14) will send out sophomore Adam Plutko (9-3, 2.79) tonight, making his second postseason start after getting one last year in Regional action. The young righty has earned himself All-Pac-12 team honors as both a freshman and a sophomore. Creighton (26-28) will send junior left-hander Ty Blach (6-5, 2.64) to the mound.

UCLA's baseball team won the 2012 Pac-12 Conference co-championship, earning the NCAA Tournament's automatic bid from the Pac-12 by virtue of winning the season series against Pac-12 co-champion Arizona. UCLA is one of just four schools to have earned an NCAA Regional host three consecutive seasons.

First pitch is set for 7 p.m. on Friday with radio coverage found here. UCLAbruins.com will have live coverage of all the L.A. Regional games. Full broadcast schedule can be found here.
