2012 Kentucky Derby: Results And Recap

On Saturday, the 138th Kentucky derby at Churchill Downs produced yet another unexpected winner of the Run for the Roses. I'll Have Another managed a thrilling win down the stretch, just nosing out odds-on favorite Bodemeister.

The race was tremendous and as always, did not fail to live up to the hype. Bodemeister looked on the verge of leading from start to finish when I'll Have Another exploded down the back stretch and chased him down, becoming the 15-1 underdog winner and thrilling the Louisville crowd.

I'll Have Another will now have an opportunity to try for wins at the Preakness and Belmont Stakes in hopes of becoming the first Triple Crown winner since 1978. Should I'll Have Another manage to piece together the Triple Crown, he just may be the most unexpected such champion in history.
