There hasn't been a Triple Crown winner since Affirmed accomplished the feat in 1978. Suddenly, with plenty of odds against him, I'll Have Another is on the verge of securing that most elusive of titles.
After winning the Kentucky Derby and the Preakness Stakes, I'll Have Another will head into the Belmont Stakes on June 9 as the clear favorite for the first time. It certainly helps that Bodemeister has pulled out of the Belmont. The horse that I'll Have Another twice chased down in the home stretch was the betting favorite in both races.
The early odds have I'll Have Another as the 3-2 favorite, followed by Union Rags at 9-2 and Dullahan at 5-1. Paynter, at 6-1, should not be counted out, but the oddsmakers have made it clear that this is I'll Have Another's race to lose. He might just accomplish what many though was unthinkable just a month ago.
