2012 Preakness Winner: I'll Have Another Wins Again, Running Down Bodemeister In Closing Stretch

The 2012 Preakness Stakes has been run, and in an echo of the 2012 Kentucky Derby, I'll Have Another ran down Bodemeister in the closing stretch to win by a neck. Bodemeister, the favorite at 2-1, was in front for much of the race and entered the stretch with a good sized lead. Jockey Mario Gutierrez made his move, though, and I'll Have Another was able to close the distance and overcome Bodemeister in a thrilling finish. Creative Cause came in third.

The race was a bit slow in the pace, which some thought would favor Bodemeister. That turned out just fine for I'll Have Another, who will now move on to try for the third jewel in the Triple Crown, something that hasn't been successfully attempted since 1978.
