On Sunday, May 27, the Indianapolis 500 will take place. There is still a full week's worth left of festivities between the most well-known IndyCar race on the planet and no pre-race event is more important than Saturday's Pole Day. The prospective drivers will compete to qualify and to set the opening lineup for the big race.
Two Southern California drivers will be trying for pole position on Saturday. Charlie Kimball hails from Camarillo and drives the No. 83 NovoLog FlexPen car, powered by a Honda engine. Also driving a Honda vehicle is Townsend Bell, in the No. 99 BraunAbility-Schmidt Pelfrey Motorsports car. Bell is a native of San Luis Obispo.
The Qualifications will begin at 8:00 a.m. PT on Saturday in Indianapolis. You can watch live streaming of Pole Day on the official Indy 500 website beginning at 8:30 p.m. PT.
