The Long Beach State 49ers had a great season in 2011-2012 and they would not have reached the NCAA Tournament without senior guards Casper Ware and Larry Anderson. While the two All-Conference selections have played their final games with LBSU, both guys will be looking to continue their careers at the professional level.
On Friday afternoon, Ware and Anderson received an invitation to the Portsmouth Invitational Tournament. The event hosts 64 of the nation's top-senior basketball players and is always a great way for these guys to get exposure. It may be the freshmen in the lottery who get all the headlines, but there are always diamonds in the rough available in the second round.
Last season with the 49ers, Ware averaged upwards of 17 points and shot 40% from the field. A solid defender, most believe he could end up in the first round. Anderson, who averaged double-digit points in all four seasons with LBSU, ranked second on the team with 14 points a night. He also brought down five rebounds on average despite only being 6-foot-5.
The Portsmouth Invitation will be a great chance for Ware and Anderson to showcase their abilities in front of numerous NBA scouts. The action is set to begin on April 11 from Virginia.
