Bakersfield native Kevin Harvick had a strong finish in the STP 400 on Sunday, but it wasn't quite good enough to prevent being knocked out of the Top 5 in the 2012 Sprint Cup Series standings.
Harvick finished the race in sixth place, but Denny Hamlin's second win of the year netted him enough points to swap places with Harvick, who now drops to No. 6 overall. Also making a big climb was Martin Truex, Jr., who led for the most laps and finished in second place. Truex now sits 15 points behind overall leader Greg Biffle, whose fifth-place finish on Sunday was good enough to keep him in the lead. Biffle now has five Top-5 finishes and has finished in the Top 10 in six of the eight races in the 2012 season to date.
