The 2012 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series rolls into the Kansas Speedway on Sunday. The STP 400 will take place on the 1.5-mile track and will be an excellent opportunity for Bakersfield native Kevin Harvick to regain some ground in the Sprint Cup standings.
Entering Sunday's race, Harvick is in fifth place overal among the points leaders. At Kansas Speedway, he'll have a better positioning in the starting lineup than any other driver in the top five. Harvick will start at No. 2, behind only A.J. Allmendinger, who is no eminent threat to Harvick's place in the standings.
Harvick is currently only four points behind Martin Truex, Jr. and only five points behind Dale Earnhardt, Jr. for fourth or third place, respectively. This would be the ideal week for him to make a move.
