Masters 2012 Field Announced: Tiger Woods, Fred Couples, Hunter Mahan, Craig Stadler Invited

Tiger Woods, Fred Couples and Hunter Mahan are among the top golfers invited to the 2012 Masters from the Los Angeles area.

The 2012 Masters field was announced, and many people with Southern California roots or connections will be figured in the field. Here's a list.

  • Tiger Woods was born in Cypress, went to school at Stanford, and now lives in Florida. Woods has won four Masters, the last one in 2005.
  • Fred Couples went to college in Houston, was born in Seattle, but now lives in Palm Springs. Couples won one Masters back in 1992.
  • Mark O'Meara went to school at Long Beach State, was born in Goldsboro and now lives in Houston. O'Meara won the 1998 Masters.
  • Craig Stadler was born in San Diego and went to school at USC. Stadler now lives in Denver. He won the 1982 Masters.
  • Rickie Fowler was born in Murrieta and lives in Jupiter, Florida. Fowler went to school at Oklahoma State. His best finish was 38th last season.
  • Hunter Mahan was born in Orange, California and now resides in Colleyville, Texas. His current college is Oklahoma State. Mahan finished tied for eight in the 2010 Masters.
  • Brendan Steele went to school at UC Riverside and currently lives in Irvine. He was born in Idylwild.
  • Patrick Cantlay is one of the amateurs in the field and is a true Southern Californian, having gone to school at UCLA. Cantlay was born in Long Beach and now lives in Los Alamitos.
  • Kevin Chappell was born in Fresno and still lives there, but also goes to college at UCLA.
