Bracketology 2012: Long Beach State 49ers Holding Strong As 11 Seed

The Long Beach State 49ers may not be a program that most of the nation is familiar with as far as March Madness goes, but make no mistake about this: this group of veteran players have the talent to make a serious run in the 2012 NCAA Tournament. While LBSU will likely have to win the Big West Conference Tournament if they hope to go dancing in March.

The latest Bracketology update from Joe Lunardi of ESPN has the 49ers earning the automatic big from the conference and being an 11 seed in the South Region. They would be matched up with six-seed Notre Dame, and a win would give LBSU a showdown with Baylor for a chance to go to the Sweet 16.

Again, it is tough to see Long Beach St. make the field of 68 should they make an early exit at the Big West Tournament, but they will be heavily favored and should come out as the victors.

Selection Sunday is set for March 11 at 3 p.m. PT.
