The Big West Conference college basketball regular season concluded on Saturday night, and the seeds for the 2012 Big West Tournament are all set. The tournament begins on Thursday, March 8 in Anaheim. The Long Beach St. 49ers fell on Saturday to the Cal State Fullerton Titans 77-74 to end their dream of an undefeated conference season, but Long Beach State is still the top seed for the second straight season.
Cal Poly beat Pacific 67-38 to secure the No. 4 seed, and Fullerton locked up No. 2 with their home win over Long beach State. Here are the first round pairings for Thursday, with all times PST. All four quarterfinal games will be broadcast on BigWest.TV:
- 12 p.m. - No. 3 UCSB vs. No. 6 Pacific
- 30 minutes after - No. 2 Cal State Fullerton vs. No. 7 UC Irvine
- 6 p.m. - No. 1 Long Beach State vs. No. 8 UC Davis
- 30 minutes after - No. 4 Cal Poly vs. No. 5 UC Riverside
The Big West Tournament reseeds after the first round, such that the highest remaining seed will play the lowest remaining seed in the semifinals. The tournament semifinals will be held on Friday, March 9 on ESPNU, and the final will be held on Saturday, March 10 at 7 p.m. on ESPN2.
