Bracketology 2012: Long Beach State Playing For Conference Title, No. 10 Seed At NCAA Tournament

The Long Beach St. 49ers are one of the better stories in the country heading into March Madness. While most around the country are unfamiliar with the 49ers, they played a monster non-conference schedule to begin the year and dominated the Big West during conference play. Led by star guard Casper Wear, LBSU could make a serious run at the 2012 NCAA Tournament with the right matchups.

Their chances at an at-large bid is likely out of the question, but should they take Big West automatic bid, the latest bracket update from SB Nation sees the 49ers as a No. 10 seed. This is the highest seeding they have been projected for in week, with most seeing the team in the 11-12 range. They would face the Florida Gators in the first round, and would likely see the Michigan St. Spartans in the second round for a chance to advance to the Sweet 16.

Lunardi had LBSU as an 11 seed in his latest update on Friday.

The Big West Championship Game is set for 7 p.m. PT on Saturday night.
