Drew Viney scored 16 points Thursday night to lead the Loyola Marymount Lions to a 76-62 win over the Portland Pilots at Chiles Center in Portland. The win was the fourth straight victory overall for the Lions, who improved to 6-0 on the road in West Coast Conference play.
Viney hit all seven of his free throw attempts and made three shots from beyond the arc, and added five rebounds and three assists on the night. Anthony Ireland scored 15 points and dished out five assists for Loyola Marymount (16-9, 9-3), who shot 51.0% from the field on the night.
Ryan Nicholas and Tanner Riley scored 13 points apiece for Portland (6-19, 3-9), who had beaten LMU six straight times at home. The last win for Loyola Marymount at Portland came in 2006.
LaRon Armstead added 13 points and four rebounds for the Lions, and C.J. Blackwell scored 11 points on the night. Loyola Marymount continues their road trip on Saturday in Spokane, facing the Gonzaga Bulldogs in a battle for second place in the WCC.
