The Pepperdine Waves fell behind early on Saturday night, trailing by as many as 15 points in the first half, and ultimately lost 72-60 to the No. 24 Gonzaga Bulldogs on Saturday night at Firestone Fieldhouse in Malibu. The Waves never led in the game.
Down 35-21 at halftime, Pepperdine pulled to within two points with 8:55 remaining in the game, but Gonzaga finished the game on a 22-12 run for the final margin.
Senior center Corbin Moore led the Waves with 17 points and 10 rebounds, his sixth double-double of the season. Joshua Lowery added 11 points and seven assists for Pepperdine (8-15, 2-10), who lost for the 10th time in their last 11 games. Freshman Jordan Baker, leading the Waves in scoring in West Coast Conference play, added nine points and six assists, but made just three of 11 shots from the field.
Gonzaga (18-4, 8-2) was led by a trio of players who scored 15 points apiece. Robert Sacre scored 15 points and added seven rebounds, and hit nine of his 10 free throws. Guy Landry Edi and Kevin Pangos also scored 15 for the Bulldogs, who have sole possession of second place in the WCC.
Pepperdine remains at home to host the San Diego Toreros on Thursday night.
