Bakersfield native Kyle Harvick is in 29th position after 70 laps of the Daytona 500 on Monday evening.
Harvick's most recent speed was clocked at 198.190 and he is roughly five seconds behind leader Jeff Burton.
Burton has led 23 laps so far while Greg Biffle, currently in second place, led for 12. Denny Hamlin led the race for 24 laps but has faded back into the back.
The race was marred by a nasty wreck, claiming Jimmie Johnson's car for the day. Johnson took a nasty shot to the driver's side from Trevor Bayne, but he got out of his car under his own power. In any event, his day is done.
Besides Johnson and Bayne, the wreck also involved Danica Patrick, Kurt Busch and David Ragan. Here's the video of the wreck.
