WrestleMania 28: Shaquille O'Neal Confirms He'll Be Wrestling On April 1

Shaq has confirmed that he will be getting into the ring at WrestleMania 28 on April 1. He will likely be wrestling the Big Show, in a match that wrestling fans have been anticipating for years.

It appears that Shaquille O'Neal will officially be stepping into the ring at WrestleMania 28 in Miami on Sunday, April 1. The only real question is why it took so long.

According to Tom Weir of USA Today, Shaq recently confirmed that he will be at WrestleMania over the weekend, while at the Cartoon Network Hall of Game Awards. He declined to name his opponent, but it would be a huge shock if it ends up being anyone other than the Big Show.

Shaq has a long relationship with WWE, appearing on many shows over the years as a celebrity guest. The promotion has been actively pursuing the former NBA superstar for years, but the scheduling never worked out prior to this year's event. Shaq and Big Show have been actively pursuing an on-screen feud since Shaq hosted WWE Raw in July of 2009.

If there's anyone that can potentially have a great match with Shaq and still make it enough of a spectacle to be a draw at WrestleMania, it's the Big Show. The "World's Largest Athlete" is the undisputed king of big-time celebrity wrestling matches, ever since WrestleMania 24, when he got in the ring against Floyd Mayweather Jr. for one of the most uncompromisingly fun matches ever. We'll see if he and Shaq can top it this year.
