Jarred DuBois scored 14 points and had four assists, leading the Loyola Marymount Lions to a 67-57 win over the Pepperdine Waves in a West Coast Conference battle at Gersten Pavilion on Thursday night. The win was the second straight for the Lions and completed a season sweep over Pepperdine.
LaRon Armstead also scored 14 points for the Lions (14-9, 7-3), who shot 43.4% from the field on the night. Loyola Marymount had a balanced scoring attack, with five players scoring at least eight points.
Armstead made all six free throw attempts on the night, improving his WCC-best free throw percentage to 89.1%.
Taylor Darby led Pepperdine (8-14, 2-9) with 18 points, and is averaging 17.0 points over his last four contests. Freshman scoring sensation Jordan Baker, leading the Waves in scoring in WCC play at 12.5 points per game, was held to six points Thursday night on just 3-of-12 shooting. Pepperdine shot 38.2% from the field on the night, including just two of 15 from three-point range.
Loyola Marymount remains home for the weekend, hosting the San Francisco Dons on Saturday night at Gersten Pavilion. Pepperdine welcomes the No. 24 Gonzaga Bulldogs to Firestone Fieldhouse in Malibu on Saturday night.
