Bracketology 2012: Long Beach State Projected For Solid Seed In March Madness

There is no feeling quite like the annual NCAA Tournament and the Long Beach St. 49ers may just get to experience it this March. While there is plenty of basketball left to be played, the most recent Bracketology update projects LBSU for a solid seeding from the Selection Committee and a first round showdown with a west coast foe.

We have a look at the mock bracket and a few scenarios after the page jump...

According to Joe Lunardi of ESPN, Long Beach St. would earn an 11 seed in the Midwest Region and would have a first round matchup with the Saint Mary's Gaels, one of the more successful west coast hoops programs in the last decade or so. Should the 49ers advance, a second round game would likely be against the Marquette Golden Eagles, who earned a No. 3 seeding.

Lunardi has LBSU winning their conference tournament and that would automatically qualify the team for March Madness. Should the 49ers not win the Big West Tournament, the team would probably be bound for the NIT.

Stay tuned for continued updates and coverage. The next few weeks should be wild in the college basketball world.
