2012 Northern Trust Open, Second Round Leaderboard: Phil Mickelson Shoots 70, Maintains One Stroke Lead

Phil Mickelson couldn't seem to get on a roll on Friday during the second round of the Northern Trust Open, but that didn't keep him from maintaining his lead over the rest of the field, firing a 1-under 70 to move to 6-under for the week at Riviera Country Club.

Phil started off the back nine, and went out in even par 36 with a birdie on 16 and a bogey on 18. He started his second nine off right with a birdie on the par-5 first, but gave it back a few holes later on the seventh. But then on the eighth Phil showed why he is the master of the short game, spinning a wedge from 109 yards back into the cup for an eagle two. He would unfortunately end the day on a low note, bogeying the ninth to finish his day.

As for the rest of the field, swede Carl Pettersson is hanging tough at 5-under for the week, while Jimmy Walker and Matt Kuchar find themselves at 4-under for the week. Walker is 5-under for the day, currently owning the low round of the day thus far.
