The second round of the Northern Trust Open is well underway at Riviera Country Club, with first round leader Phil Mickelson still tied atop the leaderboard on Friday as Sweedish golfer Carl Pettersson is vaulting himself up the ranks with a fine round of his own.
Phil couldn't get anything going until the 16th (his sixth hole) making birdie on the par 3, but gave it back to wholes later with a bogey on the 18th. Phil would gain one stroke back on the par-5 first with a birdie, leaving him at 1-under for the day and 6-under for the tournament.
As for Pettersson, his 3-under round on the day thus far has put him tied with Mickelson at 6-under, with the closest competitor to them being Stewart Cink, two shots back at 4-under. Bo Van Pelt has the round of the day thus far, currently sitting 4-under through his first nine holes Friday.
