On June 9 at the MGM Grand Garden in Las Vegas, a Southern California native will have an opportunity to hand boxing superstar Manny Pacquiao just the fourth loss of the WBO Welterweight champion's distinguished career. Tim Bradley of Palm Springs will take his perfect 28-0 record into the fight.
Bradley is the current WBO Light Welterweight champion, normally fighting at 140 pounds, but will move up to 147 to take on Pacquiao. Kevin Iole of Yahoo! Sports reports that before a fight in November, Bradley weighed 145 pounds and had just 2 percent body fat, so fighting at 147 might actually be a godsend for him.
While many are disappointed that Pacquiao will once again not be fighting Floyd Mayweather, Jr., Bradley should in no way be taken lightly as just another tomato can. 12 of his 28 wins are by knockout. He won the vacant WBC Youth World Light Welterweight title in just his ninth pro fight in 2005. He added the WBO title in 2009.
Bradley signed a $5 million contract for the fight. Pacquiao is believed to be making well over a guaranteed $20 million for the fight.
