Ducks Vs. Stars: Anaheim Cools Off Against Dallas, Loses 6-2

It wasn't Jonas Hiller's finest performance, as the Anaheim Ducks' primary goalkeeper allowed six goals as the Ducks lost 6-2 to the Dallas Stars. The Ducks had been making progress, with a six game home streak and nine wins in their last eleven games. Unfortunately, Dallas has the offense to burn a team like this when an opposing defense has an off night.

Hiller has been giving up almost three goals on average, but with a respectable .908 save percentage. He was well below that tonight, with a .750 save percentage. The Ducks held the Stars to seven shots in the second and third periods, but it just wasn't the goalies night.

It seemed at first that Andrew Cogliano was going to continue his luck from last night, as the Ducks' opening goal appeared to be deflected enough by him to give him credit for the goal. The goal was eventually given to Matt Belesky, his third of the year, but it was only briefly that the Ducks were in control as the Stars would score three first period goals.

Three different Stars scored in that first period, including Eric Nystrom with the tying tip in that seemed to set the Stars lose. Luca Sbisa scored the other goal for the Ducks, pulling them briefly within two goals.

A tough loss for Anaheim, who have three more games left on this homestand. The next is Friday against the Columbus Blue Jackets.
