The Angels have signed relief pitcher Sean Burnett to a 2-year contract, according to's Alden Gonzalez. The contract is rumored to include a team option for 2015 that would keep the lefty around for a possible third season. Though no numbers have been given, Gonzalez believes that the contract will be less than the Cubs will pay for Kyuji Fujikawa, who is expected to finalize a deal on Friday.

Fujikawa, a right-handed closer from Japan, is set to make $9.5 million in two years for Chicago and compete with Carlos Marmol for ninth-inning work. The former Hanshin Tiger also has a club option for 2015, mirroring Burnett's contract.

Burnett finished the last two seasons with 56.2 innings pitched, regularly entering the game in the seventh or eight inning for the Nationals. His performance has been solid, posting a combined 3.09 ERA in those seasons. In his three-plus seasons with Washington, Burnett has also compiled nine saves.
