Sun Bowl 2012: Georgia Tech cornerback Rod Sweeting named MVP

Following their 21-7 victory over USC in Monday's Sun Bowl, Georgia Tech cornerback Rod Sweeting was named the game's MVP. Sweeting had an interception and helped hold Trojans' quarterback Max Wittek to 107 yards passing.

Following their stunning 21-7 upset over USC in Monday afternoon's Sun Bowl, Georgia Tech cornerback Rod Sweeting was named the game's MVP. The Yellow Jackets' Jamal Golden was named the special teams player of the game and Georgia Tech's Jay Finch the lineman of the game.

Sweeting, played a major role in holding USC's offense to just 205 total yards while also limiting Trojans quarterback Max Wittek to just 107 yards passing as well. Wittek completed a meager 14 of 37 passes and threw three interceptions, including one which Sweeting returned for 21 yards.

Meanwhile, Golden was named the Special Teams MVP after the sophomore defensive back had a big afternoon in the return game. He took back one kick-off for 15 yards and had 56 yards total on two punt returns.

For Georgia Tech, the win over USC proved to be their signature victory of the season, after entering the game at just 6-7 overall.

Meanwhile, Monday was a disastrous end to USC's 2012 campaign, which saw them start the year ranked No. 1 in most preseason polls.

Following the loss, USC finished just 7-6 overall.
