Long Beach Poly Jackrabbits look to complete unfathomable run

The Jackrabbits face Granite Bay for the state title on Saturday.

The Long Beach Poly Jackrabbits will look to conclude a wild, unfathomable season this weekend in the Division I California Title Game. After starting the season with a 1-3 mark, the Jackrabbits have worked their way to the playoffs riding an 11-game winning streak that no one saw coming.

Led by a talented mix of both upperclassman and young-and-upcoming playmakers, Long Beach Poly is enjoying their longest season in school history. On Saturday, they'll have a chance to win it all at the Home Depot Center. Kickoff with Granite State is set for 8 p.m.

As this recent LA Times article explains, the team is hardly fatigued heading into their 16th game of the season. As a matter of fact, they're just as energized and rejuvenated as they were at the start of the year.

"We've coached our tails off getting these guys coached up and ready to go, and I just love the way this group of kids has come together as a team defensively," defensive coordinator Jeff Turley said.

It should be a great test for the Jackrabbits, and a win would cap off the best season in school history. Do they continue their improbable journey, or does the rough schedule finally catch up to them? We'll find out on Saturday night.
