Super middleweight champion Andre Ward will defend his titles against former middleweight champion Kelly Pavlik at the Galen Center on Jan. 26. The bout will be part of the first lineup of boxing matches at USC's Galen Center, which opened in 2006. The fights will be televised on HBO, according to ESPN.
The other fight will see Cristobal Arreola face off against Bermane Stiverne for a chance to face Vitali Klitschko for the heavyweight title.
Ward has won all 26 fights of his career and earned a gold medal at the 2004 Olympics. He will be defending WBA (Super), WBC and The Ring Super Middleweight titles. He earned the WBA title by defeating Mikkel Kessler in 2009 and has since defeated three challengers to the belt. He took down Karl Froch in 2011 to nab the other two titles.
Pavlik is 40-2 lifetime with 34 knockouts. He held The Ring, WBC and WBO Middleweight titles from 2007 to 2010 before falling to Sergio Martinez. He has won three previous fights in 2012.
