USC redshirt freshman quarterback Max Wittek is making the first start of his college career against the No. 1 team in the country on Saturday, but that doesn't seem to have impacted his confidence. Wittek was a guest on ESPN 710 on Tuesday and predicted the Trojans would knock off the 11-0 Fighting Irish.
"I'm gonna go out there, I'm gonna play within myself, within the system, and we're gonna win this ballgame," Wittek said, according to ESPN.com.
Wittek, who will start due to Matt Barkley's shoulder injury, said he has been ready to play all season. He's played in just three games this season, but said he would be comfortable to throw a lot against Notre Dame if that is what head coach Lane Kiffin game plans.
While Wittek is inexperienced, Kiffin said that may work to his advantage. He said sometimes young players don't know the extent of the challenge they're facing and just "go out and play." In limited action this season, Wittek completed 8-of-9 pass attempts for 95 yards and one touchdown.
