Breeders' Cup Mile favorite Wise Dan headlined a group of horses that arrived at Santa Anita Park on Wednesday after having their travel plans altered by Hurricane Sandy. He was joined by Classic contenders Mucho Macho Man, Fort Larned and Brilliant Speed.
The group flew from New York to Louisville and then to Ontario Airport, where the horses were loaded into vans for an hour-long drive to Santa Anita Park.
Also unloaded at Santa Anita were Grey Goose Juvenile favorite Shanghai Bobby and Gregy Goose Juvenile Fillies contenders Kauai Katie and Dreaming of Julia.
According to the official Breeders' Cup website, Wise Dan walked the shedrow for several minutes on Wednesday afternoon before settling into his stall in Barn 36. Trainer Charlie Lopresti said the five-year-old was scheduled to take his first trip to Santa Anita's main track at 7:30 a.m. Thursday morning but might wait until 10 a.m. to hit the turf under exercise rider Damian Rock.
