Lakers vs. Warriors, NBA preseason game recap: Golden State dominates 3rd quarter to beat L.A.

The Los Angeles Lakers lost their first game of the preseason schedule to the Golden State Warriors, who outscored the Lakers 37-10 in the third quarter.

The new-look Los Angeles Lakers lost their first official game in the preseason opener, falling 110-83 to the Golden State Warriors on Sunday night.

After Los Angeles came out strong with 26 points in the first quarter and took a 56-49 lead into halftime, the Warriors dominated the third quarter, 37-10, to pick up the win.

Forward David Lee and guard Klay Thompson led the way for Golden State with 19 and 18 points, respectively. Lee added seven rebounds, while Thompson connected on 4-of-6 shots from beyond the arc.

For the Lakers, newcomers Steve Nash and Antwan Jamison played modest minutes. Nash was in the game for 14 minutes, 35 seconds and recorded five points and three assists. Jamison played nearly 17 minutes, contributing three points, three assists and four rebounds. Kobe Bryant played a little more than 18 minutes and poured in 10 points, including going 6-for-6 from the free throw line.

Golden State had a large advantage in the post, outscoring Los Angeles 46-22 in the paint.

The Warriors will next be in action on Monday night against the Utah Jazz, while the Lakers will face off against the Portland Trail Blazers on Wednesday night.
