Game On Dude's performance at the Breeders' Cup Classic could help the gelding in a handful of ways. Beyond pushing the 5-year-old into contention for Horse of the Year honors, a win at the Classic could push him into a successful career, according to BreedersCup.com.
Dude has been truly dominant at Santa Anita, winning all five races he's competed in and could make it a perfect 6-for-6 with a win in the Classic. In addition to his hometown dominance, he's had a stellar 2012, capturing the Santa Anita Handicap and Hollywood Gold Cup while he was barely defeated in the final jump of the TVG Pacific Classic. He has also nabbed several other grade I and II victories on the 2012 campaign, as well as a second-place finish in last year's Classic at Churchill Downs.
Trainer Bob Baffert is pleased that his horse was named a 9/5 morning line favorite and that Dude drew the No. 5 position in the 12-horse field of this year' s Classic.
The 2012 Breeders' Cup will begin at 5:30 p.m. PT at Santa Anita. For comprehensive coverage of the race, be sure to check out SB Nation's Matt Gardner's Breeders' Cup coverage.
