UCLA vs. Cal: Brett Hundley says ankle is fine, still learning on the job

UCLA quarterback Brett Hundley says his ankle is okay and he's still learning on the job.

Ron Chenoy-US PRESSWIRE - Presswire

The UCLA Bruins are riding high through five weeks, having gone 4-1 to start the season. Much of it has to do with the emergence of Brett Hundley as the new UCLA quarterback. Hundley has performed very well to start the season, completing over 66% of his passes this year and never less than 63% of his passes in any single game.

Hundley does run a bit (he has over 150 yards on the season so far), and he did injure his ankle against Nebraska. However, in his latest press conference he stated his ankle is fine. The full press conference is below, and the quotes about his ankle are below.

"My ankle is a weird subject to talk about, but I'm feeling good. I can do the things I need to do and help the team to the best of my abilities."

"To be honest, I never slid in my life until I got to college, when I realized you need to slide as a quarterback. You still need to be able to tell the difference on when is the right moment to slide and when to get those extra couple of yards. I'm still learning, and I'll learn when to slide eventually."
