Former UCLA Bruin and superstar amateur Patrick Cantlay fired rounds of 67 and 70 in the first two days of the Frys.com Open at CordeValle Golf Club in San Martin, Calif and nine shots behind the leader. The Long Beach native will have to contend with a red-hot John Mallinger after he shot rounds of 66 and 62 to take a commanding four-shot lead into the weekend.
Cantlay is seeking his first PGA Tour win since turning professional after a storied amateur career that saw him maintain the No. 1 world amateur ranking for a record 55 straight weeks.
