The excitement of the college football bowl season reached a high note on Monday with the first two BCS bowl games. The Oregon Ducks beat the Wisconsin Badgers in the highest scoring Rose Bowl of all-time, then the Stanford Cardinal lost 41-38 in overtime to the Oklahoma State Cowboys in an exciting Fiesta Bowl in prime time. On Tuesday, the BCS bowls continue with a single game, the Sugar Bowl on ESPN, a game that gives us two teams who aren't as good as the Boise State Broncos.
Teams: No. 13 Michigan Wolverines (10-2, 6-2 in the Big Ten); No. 17 Virginia Tech Hokies (11-2, 7-1 in the ACC)
Sponsor: Allstate insurance, so hopefully we'll get to see plenty of Mayhem commercials during the game.
Location: The Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana
Time: 5:30 p.m. PST
TV: ESPN and ESPN3.com, with Brad Nessler, Todd Blackledge, and Holly Rowe on the call
Radio: ESPN Radio, with Sean McDonough, Matt Millen, and Heather Cox on the call (this trio also called the Fiesta Bowl in Glendale, Arizona for ESPN TV on Monday night)
Conferences: Big Ten teams are 3-6 so far in bowl games this season, while ACC teams are 2-4. The ACC has one more bowl game after the Sugar Bowl, as Clemson will play in the Orange Bowl on Wednesday night against West Virginia.
The Favorite: Michigan is favored by three points, per Odds Shark
The Pick: Take the Wolverines and give the points.
