The Loyola Marymount Lions conclude their very busy week on Saturday night, hosting the Portland Pilots in a West Coast Conference affair at Gersten Pavilion in Los Angeles. Road, Sweet Road: Loyola Marymount has had a bizarre season in conference play, as they are 5-0 on the road in the WCC, but 0-3 at home. Their three home games so far have happened to come against the top three teams in the conference, the Saint Mary's Gaels, Gonzaga Bulldogs, and BYU Cougars.
Scoring: Reigning WCC Player of the Week Anthony Ireland played all 40 minutes in Thursday's loss to Saint Mary's, scoring 15 points. That followed games of 25 and 27 points for Ireland, who is third in the WCC averaging 15.8 points per game on the season. Ireland ranks second in the conference with a 19.0 scoring average in conference games.
Series History: LMU leads the all-time series with Portland 43-41. The Lions lost both regular season contests last year to the Pilots, but beat Portland 72-68 in the West Coast Conference Tournament.
