The NHL All-Star weekend is a fantastic celebration of the sport and the best and brightest who play it. On Saturday, the Skills Competition will take place, which is a series of events that test a player's accuracy, speed, reactions and more. Here is a preview of what to watch for this weekend.
As for the local guys to watch for, Jonathan Quick of the L.A. Kings will be participating in the Elimination Shootout Challenge. Corey Perry of the Anaheim Ducks will be in the Breakaway Challenge. Both will look to represent their respective teams and should both be considered among the favorites for each event.
The Skills Competition will begin at 1:00 p.m. PT on NBC Sports Network. The events will be called by Dave Strader, while Eddie Olczyk will serve as the analyst. These two will be joined by Pierre McGuire and Jeremy Roenick as they conduct on-ice reports and player interviews. In the NBC studios, Liam McHugh, Mike Milbury and Keith Jones will preview and recap the action.
This should be a great event and is typically one with plenty of fireworks. Be sure to check it out on Saturday afternoon.
