Noah Hartsock and Brandon Davies of BYU combined for 49 points as they led the charge to defeat Pepperdine and hand the Waves their seventh straight conference loss by a score of 77-64 at Firestone Fieldhouse in Malibu, Calif.
Waves’ Taylor Darby had a career night as he went 10-18 on the floor with a career high 21 points. Corbin Moore had 14 points and seven rebounds on 6 of 10 from the field. Joshua Lowery had 10 points, six of them from the charity stripe.
At the foul line, it was quite a disparity as the Cougars shot 38 free throws compared to the Waves’ 12. As a team, the Waves’ committed 24 fouls on the night.
The game got away from the Waves in the first quarter when they couldn’t score in the last 2:55, in which the score at the time, 33-29, jumped to 49-29 at halftime.
The Waves will play at Jenny Craig Pavillion in San Diego, Calif. where they face the San Diego Toreros on Thursday at 7:00 p.m. PT.
