Rob Jones scored 17 points and grabbed nine rebounds Thursday night, leading the No. 24 Saint Mary's Gaels to a 61-47 victory over the Pepperdine Waves at McKeon Pavilion in Moraga, California. The loss for the Waves was their sixth straight and dropped them to 1-6 in West Coast Conference play.
Pepperdine has lost 11 straight games to Saint Mary's, who improved to 18-2 on the season and 7-0 in the WCC. The Waves have lost 17 of their last 18 contests to the Gaels.
Caleb Willis scored 14 points and grabbed four rebounds, and freshman Jordan Baker added 13 points for Pepperdine. Waves center Corbin Moore tied his season high with 14 rebounds and scored seven points. Pepperdine shot 40.9% from the field in the loss, though the Waves did make five of 11 shots from three-point range.
Pepperdine returns home to host the BYU Cougars on Saturday night at Firestone Fieldhouse in Malibu.
