The Pepperdine Waves on Saturday suffered their fifth straight loss, falling on the road to the San Francisco Dons 78-63 at War Memorial Gym in San Francisco. Michael Williams scored 17 points to lead San Francisco (12-8, 2-4), who has beaten Pepperdine in three straight home games and six of their last eight meetings in San Francisco.
The Waves (7-10, 1-5) beat the Dons 77-61 on December 29 at Firestone Fieldhouse in Malibu in the WCC opener for both teams. Unfortunately for Pepperdine, they haven't won since. Pepperdine fell to 3-5 on the road this season. Perris Blackwell added 15 points and five rebounds for San Francisco, who shot 55.1% from the field.
Freshman guard Jordan Baker continued his recent surge for Pepperdine on Saturday, leading the Waves with a career-high 26 points. Baker, who scored in double figures just once in non-conference play while averaging 5.1 points, has scored in double figures in all six West Coast Conference games for Pepperdine. Baker leads the Waves in scoring in WCC play with 14.3 points per game.
Baker made 10 of his 17 field goal attempts for the Waves, while he teammates made 11 of 32 field goals (34.4%).
Pepperdine travels north again next Thursday night to battle the Saint Mary's Gaels.
