When Marc Tyler was suspended, everything looked like it was up in the air regarding the USC running back situation for this season. Dillon Baxter, D.J. Morgan and Curtis McNeal looked liked they would be the guys who would have the best shot at the starting position once training camp began.
Who would've thought that a true frosh decommit from Stanford could potentially outshine them all.

Amir Carlisle is turning heads at USC's fall practice, and it looks like he might be the type of player that can follow in the hallowed lines of running back talent that has passed through Heritage Hall. Carlisle is drawing raves from veteran teammates according to Gary Klein of the Los Angeles Times, and is garnering favorable comparisons to Robert Woods with regards to his intelligence and adaptation to the USC offense.
"What made Robert Woods so special wasn't his speed and it wasn't his ability — it was just his maturity as a freshman to handle the amount of [information] load that he did," [Chris] Galippo said. "Amir has that same maturity."

"He's using his brain," [Matt] Barkley said. "He's using the mental side of the game, I think, to stand out from all the other guys."
Carlisle has put up impressive run after impressive run in practice and is impressing Lane Kiffin every day. Perhaps Jim Harbaugh did do something nice for USC football after all.
