Robbie Keane May Be Available Saturday

Galaxy President Tom Payne tweeted this morning that he hopes to have Robbie Keane available for Saturday’s match against San Jose Earthquakes. There were questions about when he put in for his work visa. There were also questions about when the Galaxy were able to move Juan Pablo Angel.

It looks like this deal has been in the works for much longer than the press has known about it. Either that, or Bruce Arena has some amazing clout at the Immigration offices. No official deal has been announced regarding Juan Pablo Angel, though he has spoken to the media about his reasons for choosing Chivas USA.

The story is still, we don’t know, but Tom Payne doesn’t use his words recklessly. He said that Keane is pushing for this, as the team is. It’ll be interesting to see what forward pairing the Galaxy use for their CONCACAF Champions League match tonights, without Angel on the roster.

It will likely be Landon Donovan and Adam Cristman, as was used against FC Dallas. Robbie Keane would take Donovan’s spot on Saturday, with Donovan moving back to his preferred midfield position. Certainly Keane got a taste of Beckham’s service at Tottenham, and is anxious to work with him again.
