Dodgers Walk Off By Matt Kemp, Defeat Astros 1-0

Dodgers’ slugger Matt Kemp connected on a single to right field, which scored Casey Blake from second base in the 10th inning to give the Dodgers the 1-0 walk off win against the Houston Astros to end their losing streak at four games.

The Dodgers were running out of opportunities to score all game before Kemp’s walk off. In the 9th inning, Juan Rivera lead off the inning with a lead off triple to right center. Eugenio Velez pinched ran for Rivera. Astros pitcher Fernando Rodriguez then walked James Loney and Dioner Navarro to load the bases to face Tony Gwynn Jr., who struck out. Rodriguez then retired Jamey Carroll and Aaron Miles on groundouts to send the game into extras.

Casey Blake lead off the 10th inning with a lead off double, followed by an intentional to Andre Ethier. Kemp then came on and singled off David Carpenter to win the game, giving Carpenter his second loss of the season.

Dodgers starter Nathan Eovaldi pitched an efficient game, going six innings allowing only two hits, walking four, and striking out three in 86 pitches. The right-hander from Alvin, Tex. is now sporting a 1.64 ERA after two starts.

Astros starter Bud Norris went seven innings, allowing two hits, walking four, and striking out eight.
