Angels Continue Series Against Tigers In Detroit Searching For Fourth Straight Win

The Angels look for their fourth straight win Friday night as they continue their four-game series with the Tigers at Comerica Park in Detroit. Rookie Tyler Chatwood makes the start for the Angels, facing Rick Porcello for Detroit. The Angels took the opening game of the series Thursday afternoon 12-7, behind a home run and five RBI from Mark Trumbo.

On the season Chatwood is 6-6 with a 3.64 ERA, though his peripherals haven't been as good. He has 58 strikeouts in 111 1/3 innings in his first 19 starts, compared with his 56 walks. However, Chatwood is coming off one of his best starts of the season, as he for the first time walked zero batters in seven innings in a win in Baltimore.

It's hard to believe Rick Porcello is still just 22, as tonight is his 78th career start. On the season, Porcello is 10-6 with a 4.67 ERA. He has won each of his last four starts, putting up a 3.33 ERA in 24 1/3 innings.

Trumbo has 18 RBI in 22 games in July, and on the season leads the Angels in 19 home runs and 53 RBI. At 27-12, the Angels have the top record in baseball since June 13.

Tonight's 4:05 p.m. PDT game will be televised by Fox Sports West. For more news and information on the Angels, or on tonight's game, be sure to read the SB Nation blog Halos Heaven.
