Angels Look To Build On Dramatic Win, Close In On Rangers

The Angels hope Wednesday's dramatic come-from-behind victory will be the type of win that could turn things around for the recently struggling club.  Last night's 9-8 Halo win put an end to the Rangers' 12-game winning streak, while also reviving the Angels quest to remain in contention in the AL West.  Heading into the All-Star break, the Angels had won 8 straight series while compiling a 19-6 record and cutting the Rangers lead to one game.  However, that changed once the break ended as the club had dropped four of five, falling 5 games back before stunning the Rangers with a 6-run 6th inning Wednesday.

Angels' ace Jered Weaver (12-4, 1.90 ERA) will look to continue his own 6-game win streak as he'll try to contain the hot-hitting Ranger offense in the final game of their 3-game series.  Over his last 10 starts, Weaver has compiled a stellar 6-0 record by holding opponents to a .191 batting average.  In those 10 starts, the right-hander has allowed more than 3 run just once and lowering his league leading ERA from 2.35 to 1.90.  Over his career, Weaver has faced the Rangers 22 times, the most of any team in the majors.  In those 22 games, he has gone 8-5 with a 3.38 ERA and has never lost to the Rangers in Anaheim.

The Rangers turn to CJ Wilson (10-3, 3.11 ERA) to get them back into the win column.  The left-hander has his own 6-game win streak on the line, while Texas has won each of Wilson's last five starts against Los Angeles.  The Southern California native is 0-1 in two career starts in Anaheim.
